Volt14 Solutions is a Pre-Series A startup company developing cutting edge silicon anode technologies for Li-ion battery producers. At scale, we will manufacture and sell anode material to Li-ion battery cell producers.
Volt14 is funded by leading early-stage venture capital funds and is listed by the International Energy Agency as part of its list of 40 promising clean energy startups from emerging markets. With its team possessing over 75+ years of cumulative R&D experience, Volt14 is rapidly advancing and scaling up its breakthrough materials technology.
Volt14 offers solutions and products comprising of ultra-high capacity silicon anodes. The use of Volt14 anodes enables up to 40% improvement in battery cell energy density and reduction in cost to produce for battery cells. Our target customers/markets consist of producers of Li-ion battery cells.
The proposed R&D project will include:
1. Testing and demonstration of laboratory battery cells achieving high energy densities through the use of silicon anodes.
2. Development and engineering of silicon-rich industrial battery prototypes (cylindrical, pouch cells) demonstrating ultra-high energy densities, assessed in a broad range of performance regimes tailored for different end applications.
3. Pilot-scale production of ultra-high energy density battery cells of target commercial specifications defined as per participating parties’ commercial requirements.
Volt14 shall assist in the:
1. Production and supply of its proprietary anode materials.
2. Assist with materials-level engineering, testing and characterisation.
3. Scale-up of proprietary production processes.
4. Lab-scale cell prototype fabrication, testing and iteration.
The desired R&D partner is a manufacturer of Li-ion battery cells or a Li-ion battery cell end-user with the capability for cell level evaluation and research. The participating party shall:
1. Fabricate and test industrial type cells (cell formats of their commercial offering) using advanced anode materials
2. Test and characterise industry type cell formats.
3. Finetune cell-level design parameters and charging/discharging regimes for their cell chemistry of interest paired with a silicon-rich anode.
