Predictive Patient Management through Contactless Vitals Monitoring from Hospital to Home

In this joint project, both the Israeli and Singapore companies aim to develop a contactless monitoring system to monitor bio-parameters such as heart rate, respiration rate, heart rate variability, heart and lung sounds and blood pressure. The solution could be used independently by the patient. The Israeli partner will develop the vitals monitoring system and the sensors while the Singapore partner will integrate its AI solution with the monitoring system and conduct the clinical trials including following up with the patients.

Unauthorized Cellular Detection and Analysis

In this joint project, both the Israeli and Singapore companies aim to design a system that can detect the presence of both unauthorized and authorized cellular devices within a “secure“ area. The proposed product aims to detect both unauthorized and authorized cellular devices using a relatively low cost solution. The Singapore partner’s tasks include web services development, deployment and testing while the Israeli partner takes on the sensor development and database handling.

Integrated Communication System: MESH & LTE

The proposed product is a transceiver unit that operates concurrently and independently in two wireless networks: private LTE network and an Ad-hoc/Mesh network, thus enabling data exchange across the two networks, while each network keeps its own features. The Singapore Company will be responsible for the integration of both radios, API routines and network deployment while the Israeli partner will design the internal RF components, and the control and management software.

WhiteSat

In this project, both collaborators will design a hybrid relay with TVWS and satellite communication modem (WhiteSat), which can bridge the gap to provide connectivity from last mile IoT sensors across continents for critical infrastructure applications. The Singapore partner will develop the last mile connectivity from sensors to WhteSat device with IEEE802.11af compliant TV White Space communication and the Israel partner will provide traffic management algorithm and connectivity from WhiteSat to Satellite Hub or cloud through satellite communication.

AI-Driven Asset Maintenance Optimization (AIAMO)

This project combines AI, advanced reliability engineering and optimization techniques, with advanced components modelling to improve asset operation efficiency. The initial target is HVAC systems installed in large buildings, FABs, data centers, aseptic beverage production lines, hospitals and others. AIAMO aims to understand user behaviour, reduce the energy expenditure, down-time as logistics and maintenance costs. The Israeli partner will develop advanced asset reliability models combined with decision support system with real-time recommendations for the monitored asset. The Singapore partner will develop human-machine AI interface and smarter ways to distinguish between false triggers and detection of edge-level security attacks.

Predictive Data Visualisation Engine

The project aims to develop a predictive data visualisation engine, using the meta-data of a dynamic data-structures in order to provide clear visualisation and predictive insights without requiring any coding. The engine will be built by merging the technologies provided by the Israeli company’s engine which allows the easy creation of dynamic data structures, and the Singapore partner’s technology which allows quick visualisation and analysis of any provided data set. The combination of the two technologies aims to grant SMEs access to enterprise grade technologies without the costs required for the implementation.

RetCam - Point of Sale Biometric Camera Solution

In this project, the collaborators are working together to develop a biometric camera and platform for facial and iris recognition of customers at point of sale (POS), thereby providing a cardless customer loyalty programme for engaging customers and allowing them to make payments. The Israeli partner’s role in the project is the development of the POS software and the deep learning network and algorithms for iris and facial recognition. The Singapore partner will be responsible for development of the camera optics and electronics, iris pre-processing and image extraction algorithms as well as camera design for mass production.

SMART SCADA Test Platform

The collaborators in this project intend to develop an Industrial Control Systems (ICS) testing and simulation platform for the evaluation of clients’ Operational Technology (OT) environment’s defense against cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The Israeli partner will be responsible for the prototyping of the process functional design for various industries and the integration of PLC modules to the platform. The Singapore partner will be responsible for the development and integration of the SCADA components, ICS protocols, communications modules and data analytics engine.

Robot Control System

The aim of this project is to develop a new robot control system, based on both companies’ proprietary motion control topology, to serve the automation needs of the niche market comprising of small and medium sized manufacturing companies that are currently using standard off-the-shelf motion controllers. The Israeli company will be responsible for the development of the robot master controller hardware and software while the Singapore company will be responsible for the development of the robot test platform and its motion control and kinematics transformation algorithms.

Bi Directional Wireless Agri Controller

In this project, the collaborators are working together to develop a low cost, portable and self-powered smart agriculture solution which would allow crop farmers to harness the capabilities of IoT to increase the yield and quality of their crops. The Israeli partner’s role in the project is the development of the enhanced optics, photo-voltaic panels, hydro energy harvesting and communications modules. The Singapore partner would be responsible for development of application servers, APIs, web portal and analytics engine as well as the mobile app on Android and iOS.

Universal IoT Communications Platform (UniComp)

In this project, the companies are working together to develop an Industrial IoT based energy analytics platform that would provide data analytics and insights on energy efficiency to enable businesses to optimize their energy consumption and reduce operating costs. The Israeli partner will develop the dynamic networking layer which consists of any mesh network with data prioritization and adaptive mesh routing capabilities. The Singaporean partner will develop the edge processing layer, as well as the centralized knowledge layer which would be the analytics and insights engine.

Secured Virtual Matrix and Multi Control Rooms Collaboration Gateway

The collaborators in this project intend to develop a software based gateway device based on IP virtual matrix technology that would provide video wall management capabilities for the professional audio video (ProAV) industry. The Israeli partner will be responsible for the development of the software for the video wall manager, HID, dual head 4K30 HDMI Tx and Rx as well as the gateway. The Singaporean partner would be responsible for the hardware development of the above mentioned components as well as the productization and certification process.

Field Evaluation of Oral Vaccine Against Iridovirus in Seabass and Grouper

The aim of this project is to further develop an algal line expressing two proteins of iridovirus, as a candidate fish oral vaccine targeted against the widespread iridovirus disease in fishes. The oral vaccine is meant to replace the existing method of injectable vaccines which is labour intensive. The Israeli partner will develop the vaccine expressing algal lines and optimize the algal production process while the Singaporean partner will develop the antibody ELISA and be responsible for the virus challenge studies in the lab and field trials for efficacy.

BOSCO

The collaborators will produce an enhanced version of their existing cyberbullying detection mobile application, with new features such as machine learning and mood detection, to keep parents apprised if their children are facing instances of cyberbullying. The Israeli collaborator will undertake the development of the mobile app as well as the mood detection, video nudity and aggregated data analysis capabilities. The Singaporean collaborator will focus on the development of machine learning capabilities to detect violence, route deviation and mood.

Extraordinary Capacity of Nanotubes Towards High Power and High Energy Lithium-Ion Batteries

The aim of this project is to develop a new anode material to be used in Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) to achieve faster charging time, higher capacity and longer cycle life. The Israeli company will be responsible for the scale up manufacturing process for the anode material as well as the coating process for the anode material. The Singaporean company will be responsible for the development of the synthesis, annealing conditions as well as the electrochemical analysis and material surface characterization.

Tailored FX Market Making for the Asia Market

In this project, the collaborators are working together to develop an integrated trading platform that would allow market participants to trade in both the over the counter (OTC) market and stock exchange market. The Israeli partner’s role in the project is the development of API’s to support futures trading, swap curve analysis as well as the investment exposure analysis and risk management modules. The Singaporean partner would be responsible for development of APIs to support futures trading, algorithms for spot price to future conversion and vice versa as well as market making algorithms.

Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)

The collaborators in this project are working together to develop a new portable device that would provide a minimally invasive solution with high patient compliance for the treatment of the condition of Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). The Israeli partner is responsible for the design and prototype development of the device as well as its safety and functional testing. The Singaporean partner will provide clinician insights on device design, conduct prototype testing of the device and be responsible for conducting the clinical trial of the device.

Homeland Security CONOPS

The companies in this project are working together to develop a video surveillance platform that would be compatible with existing video surveillance infrastructure and offer advanced analytics capabilities such as abnormality detection and object tracking & tracing across multiple cameras. The Israeli partner will be responsible for developing the object tracking algorithms and mapping engine while the Singaporean partner will be responsible for the development of the overall architecture of the system as well as the ontology framework for CONOPS governance.

Robo Assisted Wealth Management (RAWM) Solution

The collaborators will produce a robo-assisted wealth management platform to improve service delivery and scalability. The solution provides comprehensive support from intelligent targeting of investment ideas matched to each investor through to order execution. The Israel partner will produce the asset allocation and portfolio optimization engine using machine-learning algorithms, tailoring customised portfolios for each investor per their past investments, peers’ preferences and market conditions to maximise investment returns while minimising risks. The Singapore partner will produce the digital channel, providing a secure and intuitive user experience to distribute investment products and strategies, deliver instant quotes upon request and execute orders in a fully compliant and audit-able manner.

Fishery-Dome

The collaborators aim to develop a cloud based and real time monitoring system named Fishery-Dome that could detect the key parameters of oxygen, temperature, pH and algal levels of water bodies and predict the possible onset of algal bloom for aquaculture farmers to perform early recovery measures for their livestock. In the project, the Israeli partner would be responsible to develop a prototype of the basic sensor which would be deployed in the Singaporean partner’s fish farms for joint testing and validation.

Targeting DJ-1 using ND-13 to reduce myocardial infarct size and prevent the onset of heart failure

The aim of this project is to investigate if ND-13, a short segment (13 amino acid) of the full DJ-1 protein (189 amino acids), can be used to protect the heart against acute ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) during acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), through the action of ND-13 reducing the myocardial infarct size and preserving left ventricular systolic function. The Israel partner is responsible for investigating the effect of the ND-13 peptide in cell-line studies and the Singapore partner is responsible for studies conducted in a murine heart model using the ND-13 peptide.

Developing “Smart” Topical Delivery System

In this project, the collaborators are working together to develop the next generation of cutaneous “smart” topical delivery system for cosmeceutical formulations targeted at the skin conditions of eczema, pigmentation and photo-aging from prolonged exposure to the sun’s UV rays. The Israel partner’s role in the project is developing the cosmetic bio-actives and formulating the smart delivery system in emulsion, gel, serum and oil textures enriched with Dead-Sea minerals. The Singapore partner will develop the smart cosmetic active delivery systems (DDS), including its passive and active release, and characterize its biocompatibility with epidermal cells.

HYPLWN - Hybrid Power Line and Wireless Mesh Smart Grid Communications Network System

The aim of this project is to develop a hybrid power line communications (PLC) and wireless smart grid network communications system for transmission of data by both radio waves and through the power grid that would allow the control of lighting and energy supply & demand at a much higher level of robustness and resiliency than available today. The Israeli partner will be responsible for the development of the wireless part, and the Singapore partner will be responsible for the PLC part.

An Animal Model for the Treatment of Chronic Poly-Microbial Infection using Biofilm Patches

The collaborators in this project have agreed to jointly develop and commercialize an animal model that can be used for the evaluation of therapeutic strategies to treat chronic wounds. The objective is to develop an animal model using biofilm patches with the ability to mimic the bacterial diversity of chronic wounds. The Israel partner will be responsible for the establishment of the polymicrobial wound healing model and the in vivo antibiotics dose response evaluation. The Singapore partner will be responsible for the development and validation of the polymicrobial biofilm patches and the in-vitro evaluation of antimicrobial efficacy against polymicrobial biofilm.

IRMS – Intelligent Records Management System

In this project, the collaborators are working together to develop an Intelligent Records Management System that will integrate email handling and workflow as a seamless user experience between existing data management systems and email clients. The Israel partner’s role in the project is developing the email rules, advanced filing capabilities and automatic classifier feature. The Singapore partner will develop the time lock function, reporting features and digital preservation support function.

Stem Cell Technology

The companies in this project have agreed to collaborate on a project involving stem cell technologies which if successful, will be of great benefit to existing research and clinical procedures due to the use of defined, xeno-free culture system as well as cost reductions and widespread medical applications in the areas of regenerative medicine and cell therapy. The Singapore partner will be developing media formulations for large scale stem cell manufacturing with the Israeli partner and ensuring GMP compliance of the final products.

Separation and Enrichment of Fetal Nucleated Red Blood Cells from Maternal Blood for Non-invasive Prenatal Gene Diagnosis

The aim of the project is to develop a non-invasive prenatal diagnosis test method to test for fetal defects in pregnant women which is as reliable as current invasive and high risk procedures such as Amniocentesis and Chronic Villus Sampling (CVS), with a faster turnaround time. The Israeli partner will undertake the development of the cell isolation and enrichment process while the Singapore partner will be focused on whole genome amplification and massively parallel sequencing activities.

Polarimetric Dermatoscope

The collaborators in this project have agreed to jointly develop and commercialize a medical device and its analysis software, that will serve as a decision support tool for clinicians to diagnose skin lesions. The Israeli partner’s role in the project is in the system design of the medical device and the design and development of the software and conduct of the clinical trials. The Singapore partner’s role in the project will be the hardware co-design, development and testing of the medical device prototype.

IAPIC - Intelligent Agent with Predictability for Illumination Control

The companies have agreed to collaborate on a project that involves the development of an energy efficient, smart lighting control system for street and highway LED luminaries. The proposed system would help achieve significant savings in energy consumption as a result of its intelligent control capability. In the project, the companies would work together to develop the intelligence agent and systems, high performance communications modules and conduct the field tests.

Graphene-Based Supercapacitors

In this project, the companies will be working together to develop a Supercapacitor based on advanced materials that would provide greater energy density and also greater power density for high power applications such as Start-Stop applications in hybrid and diesel vehicles. The Israeli partner will be responsible for formulating the materials composition and reliability testing while the Singapore partner will be responsible for the material synthesis and device testing.

Optical Test Station

The collaborators in this project have agreed to jointly develop and commercialize a test equipment that can be used to test and measure multiple optical instruments in parallel. The Israeli partner will be responsible for the system electro mechanical design and software development while the Singapore company will oversee the design and development of the collimators.

Centralized Network Control Technology Project

The collaborators in this project aim to jointly develop and commercialize a new topology for motion control systems which would provide higher multi axes performance, greater flexibility and lower cost in motion control of automation and robotics. In the project, the companies would work together to develop a new communications protocol as well as the communications board comprising of the master controller and amplifiers.

MEMs Speaker Project

The project goal is to develop a MEMs speaker that would have a smaller form factor with improved sound performance and electrical efficiency as compared to existing MEMs speakers in the market. The Israeli partner’s role in the project is in the design and development of the ASIC and MEMs device and its system level testing. The Singapore partner’s role is in the MEMs device process development, prototyping, reliability testing and technology transfer to a commercial foundry for mass production.

Next Generation Infiniband Switch Module

The aim of the project is to develop an Infiniband Switch Module to address the requirements of high throughput, low latency and reduced power consumption in data centers. In the project, the Israeli partner will be responsible for the development of the switch IC, drivers and amplifiers as well as the product level functional tests. The Singapore partner will undertake the development of the through-silicon interposer and glass assembly and conduct the interposer level functional tests.

Wearable Remote Health Monitoring

The companies have agreed to collaborate on a project involving the development of a wireless biosensor patch that is connected to a Continua compliant remote patient monitoring platform. The project, if successful, will help address healthcare providers demand for affordable health solutions by leveraging on low cost wearable sensors and the Continua platform.

Inkjet Printing of Electrochromic Smart Window

The companies aim to develop a process for the manufacturing of electrochromic (EC) smart windows via inkjet printing technology. The development of the inks and printing technology aims to achieve a significantly lower cost of manufacturing smart windows which have many applications in the automotive and building window markets.

Gastro-Duodenal Sleeve that Limit Caloric Absorption in the Stomach and Duodenum in Obese and Diabetic Patients

The companies have agreed to jointly develop and commercialize a Gastro-Duodenal Sleeve (GDS) for the non invasive treatment of obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The proposed product aims to present an alternative to current surgical procedures for obesity and T2DM treatment, making it reversible and affordable.

Generation of a Mammalian Achondroplasia Model in Micropigs

The collaborators are coming together to develop a large mammalian Achondroplasia (ACH) model using micropigs which will serve in the development of specific and safe therapeutics for ACH. The proposed model is expected to closely mimic ACH in humans and will be a requirement in the development of a cure for ACH.

Project involving Stem Cell Technology

Both companies have agreed to collaborate on a project involving stem cell technology which if successful, will be of great benefit to existing research and clinical procedures due to cost reductions and widespread medical applications.

Electric Vehicle Battery Charging Interfacing With Smart Grid (Elbat)

The proposers are coming together to develop an electric vehicle charging device and its universal wireless data platform which will be hosted on a central server that can be accessed by the end user’s smart phone. The proposed system aims to be easily deployable at any facility and offers a low CAPEX/OPEX in terms of ownership of the charging spot and charging device.

CROWDSEC

The proposers aim to develop an integrated video surveillance and open source social networks monitoring system that delivers collective intelligence retrieved from data (text, photos and videos) gathered from a wide variety of sources. The system aims to provide real-time, accurate situational awareness to public safety commanders and authorities who can use data analytics tools to analyze the information, and make tactical and intervention strategy decisions without the need to be on the scene of the occurrence.

Development Of An Algae-based Oral Vaccine Targeted Toward The Fish Iridoviral Disease

The companies have agreed to jointly develop and commercialize an Algae-based oral vaccine for the iridoviral disease of marine food fish. The innovative product incorporated as part of the fish feed aims to present an alternative to the current injectable vaccines, allowing for mass vaccination which is cost-effective and user friendly.

Personal Video Transmitter (PVT)

The companies aim to develop a compact, body-worn surveillance device that captures and transmits high quality video images, audio recordings and vital life signals real-time over various types of mobile network e.g 2.5G, 3G, 4G, Wifi, Wimax.

Intelligent SFP (MiNID) Project

The companies aim to enhance the Israeli partner’s MINID, a small factor pluggable SFP device , with new advanced capabilities in particularly related to real time monitoring of SLA parameters. With data analytic, simulations and computer modelling, the performance of SFP and monitoring of SLA parameters can also be forecasted in advance and implemented, respectively.

Asymmetric Supercapacitors for High Energy Applications

Both proposers aim to develop an advanced super capacitor with higher energy density without comprising on the power density and cycle life by exploring new electrode materials and adopting an asymmetric configuration.

High Voltage High Power Normally-off Packaged GaN Transistor with 30A/600V current/voltage capability for Energy Conversion Market

The companies are collaborating to develop a new product for energy conversion, based on the Israeli partner’s proprietary GaN E-MOSHEMT (E-mode Metal Oxide Semiconductor High Electron Transistor) technology platform. The product is low loss packaged transistor with disruptive performance targeting high end energy conversion markets. The GaN E-MOSHEMT has “normally-off” characteristic while keeping intact all positive properties of GaN material in terms of high current density, high breakdown field and high power density per die area.

Ballast Water Management System (BWMS)

The companies propose to develop  a UV-based Ballast Water Management System (BWMS) for the marine industry.

Visual Task Manager in the Calendar (V-TAMIC)

Both companies aim to jointly develop a mobile application on iOS that provides children with autism and other special needs, a visual calendar and task planner, to help them manage their daily tasks. The solution shall include a cloud-based application enabling parents and teachers to monitor activities and provide inputs.

Development and Commercialization of Herbal-based Dermatological Product for the Treatment and Prevention of Radiation Dermatitis

The companies aim to develop a herbal-based dermatological product for the treatment and prevention of radiation dermatitis.  Radiation Dermatitis, ranging from a mild rash to severe ulceration, is considered as one of the most common side effects of radiation therapy. The developed product is designed to perform: 1. Moisturizing activity, reducing dryness. 2. Anti-inflammatory activity, decreasing erythema and itching, and 3. Anti-oxidative activity to minimise damage to normal skin tissue.

Wil6110 (Marlon–R)

Both companies aim to design and develop a unique package encapsulating a 60GHz RF chip in a tiny module to meet the need to integrate the RF chip and the RF antenna within commercial portable computer products (e.g. laptop) in a reliable, cost effective and high performance manner, given the space and RF propagation limitations within the notebook.

Business Intelligence based on Network Signaling (BINS)

The companies aim to develop an advanced Business Intelligence (BI) software suite which obtained business intelligence information by analyzing signalling information of telecom network (BINS). The proposed solution would provide important tools to operators, which would enable cross-network understanding of services, end user habits and preferences, and would enable network operators to better plan and improve future network services.

Machining Efficiency: CNC Machine NC Code Analysis, Verification, Simulation and Optimization Test

The companies aim to jointly develop a NC Code verification and optimization solution to avoid costly mahines collision cause by errors in NC Code generated by CAD/CAM software.

Aphrodite

The collaborators propose to develop a 3D simulation tool that helps plastic surgeons present an accurate and realistic visualization of the surgical results during consultational phase.

Nanoparticle Coating Materials for Improved Solar Cells

The companies are leveraging their joint expertise in the field of nanotechnology to create an improved transparent conductive material for use in solar cells. The project is supported by SIIRD as a part of SIIRD’s Cleantech Research Funding initiative.

Development of lightening & anti-aging cosmetics containing fungal ingredients and using nano-organized fractal structures

Both partners agree to develop a new range of cosmetics, comprising Cordyceps and Ganoderma, which utilise nano-based technology to deliver a slow release of whitening, healing and anti-aging properties.

EFL Automated Text Correction and Learning Assistance

Both companies aim to develop an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Automated Text Correction and Learning Assistance program, which aims to improve students’ grammar and spelling in a fun way.

Fuel Cells Powered UAV for Civil Applications

The proposers aim to develop an affordable, high-performance mini-Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) powered by fuel cells and equipped with an efficient electro-mechanically controlled cooling architecture. The project has been supported by SIIRD’s Cleantech Research Funding initiative.

Quiver

The companies are embarking on a project, based on a new Piezoelectric Motor implementation, which is set to revolutionise the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) industry by taking storage capacity to the next level in a cost-effective way.

Competitive Intelligence Analysis Tool

Both collaborators aim to develop a “Competitive Intelligence Analysis Tool” that analyses market information from both internal and external sources on a single platform, thereby enhancing its credibility and value.

Cooperative-Diversity WiMAX Network

The companies aim to develop a “Cooperative-Diversity WiMAX Network” that improves the sensitivity of mobile stations by using unique Receiving Relay Stations to receive uplink information sent from mobile devices.

Net Flipper

Through SIIRD’s Research Funding,the proposers aim to develop the Net Flipper – a new product that will allow end users to view websites, web applications and the internet in a book-like interface. Net Flipper will enable the content owners to offer their users surfing their websites a new experience by allowing them to turn pages and review the information in a convenient and familiar structure.

Next Generation Low-Cost Wireless Sensors Management System

The collaborators agree to design a cost effective complete solution for the cold chain management. The system will be built on advanced mesh network technology which improves communication coverage, hence allowing temperature of perishable goods to be monitored continuously so that remedial actions can then be carried out on any potential damage instantly and systematically.

Innovative Platform for Indexing and Searching for Audio Content

The companies plan to integrate the speech processing technology, indexing and search technology, and corpus linguistics capabilities of both companies to develop an innovative platform for indexing and searching for audio content – an automatic speech search engine with focus on telephone recordings.

Smart Grid Compliant Smart Metering System

The proposers agree to develop a Smart Grid Compliant Smart Metering System which bridges the gap between the old and the new standards in the various metering systems and enables real-time monitoring of smart metering devices. This should allow the electrical utility companies to construct an open architecture of smart metering system for their electricity distribution that prevents theft of electricity, increases their revenues and optimizes the use of their expensive infrastructure assets.

Modu2 Mechanical Platform

The collaborators agree to develop the mechanical structure and connector system for modu2 and its mobile phone “jackets”. modu2 allows consumers to change the appearance of their electronic devices and gadgets and add different features and functionalities – simply by changing “jackets”.

3D Packaging for Projection Chip

Both companies propose to develop a 3D Packaging solution for a miniature projection chip to be incorporated into ubiquitous devices such as mobile phones, PDAs and laptops. The Singapore partner’s 3D Packaging solution will not only minimise energy consumption and cost, but will also enhance the performance and brightness of their Israeli partner’s miniature projection chip.

802.11n Wide Frequency Mini PCI Radio Module

The companies agree to develop an 802.11n Wide Frequency Mini PCI Radio Module that provides users of compatible devices with the flexibility to utilize unoccupied frequency bands, thus enjoying the benefit of seamless wireless connectivity by avoiding spectrum congestion and mutual interference.

Electrode Design Automation & Advanced Electrode Manufacturing

The companies aim to enhance their current electro-discharge machining software, and integrate it into the Autodesk Inventor platform as a plug-in. This will help to ease the electrode design and machining process for computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines, by supporting the advanced machinery tools and built-in artificial intelligence, ensuring more accurate output in precision tooling.

ActionBase for SPS

The partners agree to work together to customise existing human process management system for the Microsoft SharePoint Server platform through SIIRD’s Research Funding. The resulting solution will ensure more efficient tracking and workflow especially within organizations that have processes that cross organizational boundaries or require an audit trail.

City Air Pollution Sampling, Analysis and Tracking

The collaborators aim to develop a Particulate Matter (PM) Sampling, Analysis & Tracking System, an Environment Research Funding project, which will provide a cost-effective way and near real-time solution for identifying contamination sources of ambient PM. The technology will be useful for organisations such as environmental agencies in identifying the sources of air pollution.

Wireless Multimedia System

The companies propose to develop a platform for delivery of high definition video content wirelessly within a home environment. The proposed solution will eliminate lengthy and expensive cabling systems required for HD content delivery, and allowing users to install the proposed home network device themselves.

Twin Star Druid High Availability System

Both companies are collaborating to develop a redundancy solution for open source IP PBX system. The proposed product aims to serve customers who demand high availability to their IP PBX telephone network, such that, by implementing the proposed solution, the time required to recover the network, in the event of a server failure, will be minimal.

Wireless Mobile Data and Dispatch

The partners propose to develop a bundled fleet management solution (hardware and software) with features such as dispatch and messaging, fleet management and remote diagnostics. It is one of SIIRD’s SME Funding for R & D collaborations. The proposed solution aims to help fleet owners send out job orders, track vehicles and manage the lifecycle of their vehicle fleet. The mobile digital terminal (MDT) proposed in the project will be portable so that drivers are able to carry the MDT with them when dispatching goods.

Development of 1-2-1 i-Display & 1-2-1 i-Display Pro

THe proposers aim to develop a digital signage system with viewers’ recognition capabilities. The proposed system will analyze the viewer age, gender and ethnic background, and react accordingly by presenting the relevant contents to the specific viewer. These viewers’ statistics will be delivered to the advertisers for them to track and understand their viewers, so that they can assess the results of their advertisement initiatives. The proposed product will not have any video recording function to protect the privacy of audience.

CCPMS - An Innovative Centralized Management System that Utilizes Intelligent Sensors for Verifying Parking Places Occupancy and Enforcement Force Management

The companies aim to conduct a technical and market feasibility study for developing a centralized car park management system using wireless sensor mesh network technology. The study will help the companies to find out the market response to the proposed product and an effective way to commercialize the product to the target market. It also helps the companies find out whether the proposed product is technically achievable.

Development of 3D Game in Mathematics

Both companies agree to develop a 3D virtual Mathematics game targeted at children aged 7 and 8. The game aims to develop their creativity, problem solving skills and higher order thinking by providing Mathematics problems in an interactive environment. The proposed product will also allow teachers to monitor and keep track of the performance of the students playing the game.

Voice Interface System for Automotive Driving Application in Car Kit (VISOC-CK)

The collaborators aim to develop a Voice Interface system that is speaker independent and requires only low resource hardware for execution. The companies aim to implement this Voice Interface system in a car kit device so as to provide a total hands-free solution for drivers.

W3GRT-2801-N “SIIS Project”

The proposers agree to develop a product which combines wired and wireless LAN Access Point/router and integrated 3G/UMTS/GPS cellular module in one single box. The proposed product could be used in the transportation industry and remote working sites.

Wireless Measurement & Control System for Liquids

Both companies aim to develop an integrated system for continuous management of the physical and chemical characteristics of liquids in industrial processes. The proposed system aims to monitor the liquids in industrial tanks by collecting data parameters using multi-sensing devices and transmitting the data back to the control center via wireless mesh network, thereby “bringing the laboratory to the tank”.

Automated Understanding and Retrieval Refinement of Photography Images (AUTOMAGE)

The proposers agree to collaborate on developing an Automated Understanding and Retrieval Refinement of Photography Images (AUTOMAGE) system that aims to improve the photo acquisition process and the search and retrieval process. The system aims to relieve the existing labor intensive process of screening the photos and to improve the consistency of the keywords tagged onto the photos. The system also aims to improve the search and retrieval process for images at the user end.

An Innovative Massive Multiplayer (MMP) Game based on Hardware-Accelerated AI

The companies propose to develop a Massive Multiplayer (MMP) game based on hardware-accelerated Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The MMP game is a Real Time Tactics game simulating the First World War’s trench warfare. The hardware-accelerated AI technology will support the game’s sophisticated AI content thereby enhancing the overall gaming experience and believability for the players.

Lighting Energy Management System (LEMS)

The proposers aim to develop a Lighting Energy Management System that provides centralized real-time monitoring and controlling of the status of every lamp under the system. The system aims to provide accurate predictive maintenance function, illumination level control and customisation of illumination profile for the lamps. The product aims to save on the energy consumption by the lamps and reduce the maintenance costs through its predictive maintenance feature. This energy savings project is one of SIIRD’s Cleantech Research Funding project.

Cytech - HomeNet Intelligent Building (CHIB)

The partners propose to develop a HomeNet Intelligent Building system that enhances the living comfort of users while ensuring the safety and security of the vicinity. The system aims to provide building and home automation with real-time security and video surveillance via wired and wireless networks. It allows users to have remote access to their smart home elements, video surveillance and alarm detectors through mobile phones, PDAs and internet.

IPTV Information Orchestration Solution (IIOS)

Through SIIRD’s Research Project Funding, the proposers aim to develop an IPTV Information Orchestration Solution (IIOS) that aims to collect information related to the Quality of Experience (QoE) from IPTV subscribers. The collected information will be consolidated and analyzed in real time for IPTV service providers. This information provides valuable feedbacks to the service providers which help them to improve the quality of service.

SMARTILE

Both companies aim to develop an Active Structural Acoustic Control (ASAC) device, SMARTILE, which aims to reduce the noise level in the passenger cabin on vehicular platform. The SMARTILE device is based on a combination of active vibration and noise control technologies. One of the goals is to make the system modular and usable for several applications, for example, noise reduction for excavators in order to meet the noise level requirement set by the EU.

Mobile Digital Satellite News Gathering (M-DSNG)

The companies aim to develop a M-DSNG system that allows the broadcasting crew to transmit and receive video clips, data and text files while en route to cover a news event via a dedicated two-way satellite link.

Electrode Design & Manufacturing Solution

The collaborators have agreed to work together to develop a solution that provides comprehensive approach to the integration of design and manufacturing automation of electrode creation on a leading mid-range 3D CAD platform (SolidWorks), thereby realizing a unified interface and seamless data flow from design to manufacturing. This solution aims to reduce the lead-time of electrode manufacturing and, in turn, reduces the turnaround of mould production. It aims to reduce production cost of mould and die tools, while maintaining the precision and reducing the manual errors throughout the production cycle.

Flip USB

The collaborators propose to develop a dual-side Flip USB flash memory device that combines a SanDisk USB flash memory card and a connector to be developed by the Singapore partner. The proposed product, through SIIRD’s Research Project Funding, allows flexible connectivity of any USB device.

Triple Play Service Multi Standard System

The companies aim to develop a dual function IEEE802.11 Point to Multi-point (PTMP) base station or a Point-to-Point (PTP) wireless bridge. With frequency conversion feature that will allow switching to licensed and unlicensed bands (e.g. 2.3GHz, 2.5GHz, 3.3GHz, etc.), the system allows users to use their existing WiFi accessible products (laptops, PDA, web phones, etc.) everywhere.

IP Call Center Using VOIP In Remote Site

The proposers are working together to develop a contact center suite that can be operated by handicapped personnel, thus enabling them to join the mainstream workforce and enhance their independence. The proposed contact centre suite will contain integrated and embedded software tools for the handicapped operator to manage an Agent User Interface with voice commands and a narrator function reading out the screen content.

ComboSense System

The companies propose to develop a situation awareness system called the ComboSense System. The ComboSense system supports command & control in both 2D and 3D and it features a simulation module for real-time planning. ComboSense may be deployed to prepare the customer in crisis management and debrief operations. The system is also capable of conducting command and control of resources.

Paper Only Biometric Identification Documents (POBID)

The companies aim to research and develop a Paper-Only-Biometric-ID (POBID). The POBID system includes a combination of technologies representing the unique expertise of both companies. The system is based on the Singapore partner’s real world facial recognition technology and the Israeli partner’s paper encryption technology. The identification data are processed by the technologies of both companies and printed on paper or plastic card.

Mobile Digital TV PC Card

The participants are collaborating to build a USB Mobile Digital TV (‘MDTV’) card, which can be plugged into the USB port of a mobile computing device. The size, weight and form factor shall be similar to that of a USB thumb-drive. It will have a USB2.0 (full speed) interface. With this USB device plugged in, one can receive digital TV broadcast in the DVB-H format and while moving at speeds up to 350km/h. The MDTV card will support the following open standards: DVB-H, DVB-T, T-DMB, and DAB.

Next Generation Sync over Packet Product

The proposers aim to develop an application-agnostic,cost-effective, standards compliance synchronization solution for Next Generation Networks, by creating a low-cost clock recovery module using a low-cost oscillator and innovative clock recovery algorithms. Such a solution will help to improve the network synchronization and to provide good quality traffic over the customers’ mobile communication networks.

Feasibility Study for Intelligent Research Operations Management Systems

The comapnies aim to conduct a Feasibility Study to explore the viability and specific requirements of an Intelligent Research Operations Management System (‘iROMS’). Such a system will allow public and private sector research establishments to manage the data associated with research activities, e.g. projects, grants/funds, project team, resources, publication list and reports.

High-end System for Inner Perimeter Security (“Varuna System”)

The collaborators aim to develop a high-end system for inner perimeter security, using a combination of biometrics, computer vision, and machine learning technologies. The system is meant to complement the existing high-end video security systems, so as to provide a security solution specifically geared for the prevention of in-house threats. A combination of the following technologies will be used:

  • Biometric Face Recognition Technology
  • Body Recognition and Tracking System
  • Data Fusion Technology
  • Geographic Data Mining Technology

Voice Interface System on a Chip (VISOC) for home appliances

Both participants are cooperating to develop, integrate and test a low-cost Voice Interface on a micro-controller Chip (VISOC) for home appliances. The system will be based on software algorithms that will be developed by the Israeli partner and embedded into Fujitsu’s micro-controller chips. The Singapore partner will integrate it with other components on dedicated boards designed by them. The new chip will facilitate the handling and operating of home appliances while diminishing manual operating functions to a minimum.

Legacy Application Portfolio Management and Legacy Modernization Workbench Products

Both companies aim to enhance the Israeli partner’s product to support the specific needs of the Asia Pacific markets by further developing the core functionality and additional features. The project deals mainly in Legacy Transformation solution that will automatically transform legacy to modern architectures and modern relational databases. This collaboration will also cover product’s localization to the Asia Pacific market needs.

APRT-2801-g SIIS Project

Both partners aim to design a wired & wireless router box that supports network printing and storage over a LAN environment, for the Small Office, Home Office (SOHO) market. The Israeli company provides the embedded Common Internet File Systems (CIFS) middleware software to support file sharing and print sharing functionalities, while the Singapore company designs the hardware platform and drivers, and the wireless chipset that serves as WLAN access point.

Solar Efficient LED Based Illuminated Signs

The collaborators propose to develop advanced illuminated sign with above 90% of light efficiency, using material such as acrylic and reflector that contains LEF (Light Emitting Fiber). This Environmental Research Funding project’s target for an average street sign is to achieve 14 hours of illumination at darkness conditions following only 2 daily hours of solar charging process using low cost rechargeable battery and solar cell.

Asian GPON Solution

The companies propose to design and develop a Generalized Passive Optical Networks (GPON) system to achieve the following benefits:

  • Longer distance coverage, which would allow a single OLT (head-end) to serve ONTs (customer side) at greater distances of up to 37 km
  • Support of large bursts of data traffic, which would allow providing data services at the proper quality of service in real traffic packet distribution
  • Full compliance with the GPON standard (G.984) and specifically support for the optical power leveling feature with the new DenseLight transceiver

The Research Project Funding under SIIRD enables the companies to offer a complete GPON solution, covering both the OLT and the ONT equipment, which caters for both business and residential triple play services.

Common Architecture Outdoor-Unit for Broadband Wireless Point-to-Point Applications

Both companies propose to develop a range of Outdoor-unit (ODU) products to be used in a PDH (Pleisochronous Digital Hierarchy) or SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) broadband wireless point-to-point systems. The ODU is paired with Indoor-unit (IDU) as one terminal to form a point-to-point wireless link. The range of ODU products developed would have lower costs but able to cope with more complex signaling and offer a much better radio performance as compared to the existing ones.

Development of Missed Call Alert (MCA) Platform

The collaborators are cooperating to create a low cost and upgradeable Missed Call Alert Platform that notifies the mobile subscriber by SMS a “lost or missed call” while the mobile handset is turned off or out of range. The concept of the proposed system is to use PC based platforms and Microsoft work environment. The system can be easily upgraded and it includes a monitoring mechanism that alerts a fault.

Embedded Chinese Word Segmentation & Translation

The proposers aim to produce a mobile scan and Chinese translation product for use in portable handheld environments. The novelty of the product will be its capability to handle the complexities of the Chinese language for scanning and translation and still be a hand-held device for ease of use for the consumers.

Report-IT

The companies are collaborating to develop an integrated solution for legacy system that takes in text files, converts them into XML format, and generates reports in various formats to be distributed. Report-IT aims to provide an integrated data extraction, data transformation, report generation and distribution solution for legacy systems.

King's Game

The proposers aim to develop a simulation trainer for crisis management encompassing the combined simulation of police, fire brigade medical evacuation, civil defense, transportation etc. The product enables authorities like Home Security Command to be trained in crisis management.

Cellular m-Marketing & m-Commerce Tool

Both companies propose to provide the Mobile Advertising & Interactive Trader (MAIT) clients that would support specific markets in the Asia region. The target operator of the MAIT clients would be non-technical and marketing oriented personnel. The three MAIT clients are to be developed for the following market segments: advertising agencies, media companies and ticketing. The underlying backbone of MAIT would be World Trade Server (WTS) provided by the Israeli partner while TeleMoney from the Singapore partner would be a key component in the ticketing client.

NMSplus

The proposers aim to develop a set of management tools which provide customers with the ability to plan, install, operate, provision, maintain and administer their equipment, networks and services in the digital video broadcasting system so as to achieve a high level of service quality. The product should also help to reduce the customers’ cost of network maintenance and operations.

OCR-On-A-Chip

The collaborators aim to develop a miniaturized OCR product in the Chinese language, for use in portable handheld environments. The product will feature Chinese OCR on a chip, similar to Latin-character-based Quiktionary products. The product will attend to the recognition of the Chinese set of approximately 14,000 complex characters.

MOMA Content Management Platform

This project is based on the MOMA Gateway and Application Platform that has been developed for SMS, EMS and WAP. It has already been deployed with more than 20 mobile operators in EU and Asia. The companies propose to further develop and enhance the MOMA platform to support technologies such as Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) and J2ME (Java 2 Mobile Edition), with a single interface for telecom operators, thus allowing ease of control and rapid time to market for new content and applications which the Funding for Research aims to achieve.

OMEX

The companies propose to develop an one-stop mobile Online Mobile Exhibition (OMEX) hub, which provides interaction, promotion, marketing, content management, market information, customer support and logistic management solutions online for exhibitions over 365 days. The key developmental efforts will be the integration of the Israeli partner’s InfoServer and the Singapore partner’s exhibition portal as well as to develop additional solutions to provide for all aspects of exhibition management.

Development of a Laser Marking System For IC Packaging

Both companies found complementary capabilities and aim to explore the viability of developing their own customised laser system. The Singapore partner currently integrates laser system purchased from other supplies into their IC-handling system. They market such systems to semiconductor industry in the region. The Israeli partner supplies laser system on OEM or turnkey basis to customers in the food, metal and diamond industries. In their proposed collaboration, the Israeli company provides the laser system capabilities and the Singapore company contributes the IC marking system capabilities and the market knowledge.

Real Time Operating System Driver

The collaborators have taken their working relationship one step forward by embarking on a joint development project, which will create a new line of driver automation products – the RTOSDriver (Real Time Operating System Driver). This project will create a new line of development tools that enable real time systems programmers to create device drivers just as easily as the WinDriver product line enables Windows programmers to create them. The RTOSDriver will be another step in tightening the relationship between both companies. The Israeli company will sell the end product worldwide, while the Singapore company will focus on the Singapore, India and Australia regions.

Ezfone Internet Telephony Solution

The proposers are cooperating to develop a PC hardware/software solution that turns any regular or cordless phone into an “Internet Phone”. Ezfone uses a standard telephone, making microphones and speakers obselete for conducting voice over IP. The entire procedure, including launching of software and the connection to the Internet, is automated and transparent to the user – no touching of the PC, mouse or keyboard is required. An Internet connection is established by simply dialing the destination number and the call is routed over the Net to the destination Ezfone user, or via an ITSP gateway’s hop-off facility to any PSTN connection. Ezfone is able to call off-line destination parties, and automatically transfer the call over the Net.

D.O.D. Ink-jet Printing-Head For Consumer Products

The proposers aim to develop a dot-on-demand inkjet printhead for consumer-based products. The printhead will leverage on the Israeli company’s experience and knowledge of pizoelectric inkjet technology, which is used in their inkjet industrial printers. The printhead will be based on novel concepts – which patents have been applied. It involves the use of porous material which enables inexpensive production of very thin printheads, having long life spans, high ejection frequency and flexibility with ink formulation. The 200 dpi printhead will be designed for niche consumer products which current established inkjet players are not providing. The first application of the printhead will be for use in a plain paper fax machine. The fax mechanical engine will be designed and developed to use the developed inkjet printhead.

Development of an E-Pen Signing System For Secured Transaction

The companies are cooperating on the development of an electronic pen (e-pen) signing system for secured transaction by combining  electronic pen technology and on-line signature verification algorithms. The innovation provides an automated solution for on-line verification of a person’s signature while writing on plain paper using the e-pen. Users will have no problem using the e-pen as it writes and feels like an ordinary pen. The objective of the E-pen secured transaction system is to allow each user carrying an e-pen with unique ID number to verify their signature with the data stored on the pen. The characteristics of the signature is encrypted and stored in the pen. When the pen is lost, another person will not be able to use it for fraud and forgery purposes. Both companies intend to develop the solutions and license the technology to Point-of-sales manufacturers.

Consumer DigitalAudio/Video Recorder Player

The proposers are tapping on SIIRD’s Research Funding for developing a unique system enabling the digital recording of movies on conventional CD-R or CD-RW media. The development program included the joint definition of the product and its partition into VLSI, software and hardware components. The Israeli company undertook the development of a VLSI device especially for the system being designed by the SIngapore company. The device was fully functional after first silicone and has been successfully integrated into the system. The Singapore company is marketing the Audio/Video CD Recorder in the US and other countries under the brand name Terapin.

The device developed by the Israeli company, marketed under the brand Emblaze ASIC, is also being incorporated into USB A/V capture cards for PCs, manufactured by several companies in China and other Pacific rim countries.

Web-based e-learning platform

The Israeli company is Israel’s premier publisher and developer of educational software while the Singapore company is one of Singapore’s largest educational technology companies. The partners had joined forces to develop a system, called School Groupware and Resource Planning (SGRP), that provided a comprehensive solution for schools seeking to establish an on-line learning environment. It could manage and automate teaching and learning processes. SGRP consisted of two major components: Groupware and educational resource planning. Together, these components formed a complete solution that enabled the access management to educational resources, and supported the information exchange among school community members during the learning process. This system was acquired by Britannica.com Inc.

High-Throughput Vacuum Oven For Moisture Removal of Semiconductor Devices

The proposers aim to reduce the 24 hours baking time by increasing the vacuum level inside the oven chamber and getting a continuous in-situ measurement of the moisture level inside the tapes. The Israeli company will be responsible for the technological development while the Singapore company will be responsible for testing the product at customers production lines (Beta sites) and providing the feedback for further improvements.

Vision-Based License Plate Recognition Parking LotManagement System

Both participants propose a joint project on the application of computer vision and database management. The Israeli partner will develop the license-plate recognition system and the SIngapore company will provide the parking management software. The end product will be a car park management system based on the integration of the above two technologies.

Development of Fermentor Culture of Edible and Medicinal Mushrooms for Nutraceuticals and Biopharmaceuticals

The proposers aim to develop cholesterol-lowering and anti-diabetic products from fermentor cultures of certain medicinal mushrooms and to scale up the fermentor cultures to commercial scale, and to carry out pre-clinical trials on animal models for these nutraceuticals before embarking on clinical trials on human.The Israeli company will mainly focus on the R&D of the first series of dietary supplements as well as performing clinical tests towards approvals and semi-industrial trials. The Singapore company will focus on activities directly supporting the development production and some of the clinical tests towards marketing approval. Some other marketing activites, especially establishing business relationships with major nutraceuticals distribution companies, will also be performed.

Growtech 2000

The Israeli company has developed the GrowTECH 2000 (GT2000), which is a self-contained, portable, robotic platform designed to automatically seed, transplant and harvest commercial quantities of hydroponic, pesticide free lettuce and other green leaf vegetables on a daily basis, anywhere in the world, 365 days a year. Utilizing a 40-ft metal shipping container outfitted with robotic system, environmental control technologies and hydroponic systems coupled with 24 hours lighting systems, GT2000 is designed to deliver optimal growth conditions and scales of productivity up to 200 times greater than conventional agricultural applications. The Israeli company signed a beta site MOU for two machines, to be operated in Singapore, with the Singapore partner. The main objective of the beta site testing is to determine the system productivity and reliability using local lettuce seeds, local water, higher ambient temperature and humidity and different lighting exposures. The project has been supported by SIIRD under SIIRD’s Environmental Research Funding initiative.

LPC Flash Disk

The companies propose to develop a new electronic disk based on flash memory technology. The new disk will support the LPC (Low Pin Count) bus that will replace the old ISA bus. The new disk will be in TSOP-1 package, which is a small standard packaging technology of electronic components provided by the Singapore company.

The disk is combined of two dies: standard Flash memory and controller that include also the legacy technology of the Israeli partner. The Israeli company is responsible for the product and will develop the controller die. The Singapore company will develop the assembly and the package. The disk will be sold as the Israeli company’s product.

Versatile Electronic Training System Based on Interactive Video (VETSIV)

The participants propose to develop a VETSIV system that will manage multi-facet training courses through the Internet. The VETSIV system will integrate technologies and applications that will enable the flow of Electronic Training through the Broadband Web. The Israeli company will provide the VETSIV system, which is an e-learning platform with Interactive Video applications, Dynamic Database, Interface to Text Speech, Content Bank Technologies and other advanced features. The Singapore company will integrate its existing proprietary courseware contents to the VETSIV system and will also conduct a comprehensive pilot programme with a large corporate client to validate and enhance the VETSIV system.

Development of 3G Multi-Platform Vendor Managed Inventory System for Petrochemical Industry

The collaborators propose to develop a system that will enable usage of the Internet and the cellular infrastructure and technology standards to replace the costly modem communication technology that is currently employed in the Singapore company’s Global Inventory Management (GIM) system. With the proposed system, the Singapore company expects to reduce its current call charges by at least ten folds, and to provide a more real-time monitor of product inventories.

The Singapore company will be responsible for all the front-end that includes integrating Internet capabilities to the outstation unit so that measured data may be transmitted via the Web to an Internet server. The Singapore company will engage a local service provider to host the Internet server. The Singapore company has also sought the understanding of a few petrochemical companies to conduct the validation tests of the proposed product prior to commercial implementation. The Israeli company will provide the back-end that includes communication with mobile devices for real-time inventory updates via SMS or WAP.

ExperiWeb

The Israeli company, who specializes in the development of systems for science education via the internet, and the Singapore company, sole distributor of dataloggers to schools and colleges, propose the project “Experiweb”, which will allow teachers and students to conduct experiments using on-line tools for data collection and analysis.

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Content-BasedPrepaid Platform

The collaborators propose to develop a GPRS content-based prepaid platform (Stargate) for wireless data applications and services for the next generation wireless networks. The platform will be able to provide a real-time content, traffic information analysis and efficient prepaid traffic filtering. The companies will conduct a beta-site test to validate the proposed Stargate platform with a major telecommunication company.

Visual Touch Map

Both companies propose to develop a technology enabling software, which supports touch-screen technology and enables large aerial images, incorporated with 3D fly-over realistic visualisation and real-time geographical information, to be streamed over narrow band communication (wired or wireless). The proposed software is targeted at various vertical markets such as defence, telecommunications, real estate and the mass market. The Israeli company will be mainly responsible for the integration of its patent pending technology to geographical informtion systems and touch screen devices. The Singapore company will develop specific applications, supporting and integrating their partner’s technology, to meet the requirements of the various vertical markets. The companies will conduct a beta-site testing with map contents, geographical information and bandwidth service providers and portable hand-held device manufacturers.

Prog2Hunt

The companies propose to develop an intelligent pest control smart station “Prog2Hunt” as an Environmental Research Funding project. The system consists of 2 parts: a front line station comprising of a pest trap device attached to a mobile sensor and a RF transmitter, and a backend unit comprising of a RF receiver and a processing cum triggering software. The backend unit can receive information from many front line stations, each of which transmits its ID and pest count reading. The backend unit then processes the received information and triggers appropriate follow-up actions (alerts pop-up, e-warnings, etc.) accordingly. The companies have also managed to conclude an understanding with a major Singapore company to participate in the beta testing of the proposed system. The companies expect the proposed system to reduce the cost or increase the productivity of a conventional pest management process by about 60-70%.

Interactive Content Delivery System

The collaborators propose to develop the world first Interactive Content Delivery System (ICDS) for Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT). The interactive system consists of a forward interaction channel (downstream), which is based upon an MPEG-2 and a return interaction channel based on a DVB-RCT (OFDMA) transmission (upstream). The system will be a state-of-the-art platform combining the Internet, digital television, and broadband access, and supports the delivery of services for various network interfaces according to the DVB-T standard and Ethernet technologies. The companies will also jointly perform a field trial in a fixed and mobile wireless environment, with a major broadcasting company in Singapore.

Enterprise Engineering Navigation

The companies propose the integration of Columbus Facility Navigator and iViva works to provide a more comprehensive and effective infrastructure management solution. The key developmental efforts will be the integration of the database structures, object models, application workflows and user interfaces. According to the companies, the proposed development will be the first integrated Facility Engineering Management/Operations & Maintenance product (FEMS-OMS) in the market. The proposed FEMS-OMS product will be marketed through the existing and new distribution partners of both companies. In this regard, the companies will leverage on the geographic presence and market access of each other.
